Trip & Waypoint Manager comes with a general worldwide database that provides basic cartography, including interstates, motorways, oceans, and various other general reference detail to help you plan your next trip. Map detail also includes political boundaries, principal cities and towns. This trip planning CD is designed for use with Garmin units that have no built-in map detail or city point database. You can create routes, but not without the maps which are not included. This appears to be a decent product but it is useless without separately purchased maps. I thought that by purchasing a Garmin GPS unit and this software that I could create my own routes.
It is easier to make the waypoints on the device that this. If the device doesnt support alternate routes dont waste your money on this.
Note: After uploading the Route, you will need to go into Tools, My Data, Import Route from File. If you want to upload Routes, just buy one of those units and use the free utility within Mapquest. You won't find that information in any of the Garmin instructions including the downloadable manual. Garmin compatibility guide indicates this software is compatible with a wide range of Nuvi Products. The truth is that other than for the Nuvi 700, 800 or 5000 Series, you will be unable to upload anything other than Waypoints.
Imports GPX format files very welleasy to use.This product is well worth it's name.
I was able to view my waypoints in a printable map and in Google Earth as well - Awesome. The Garmin MapSource Trip and Waypoint Manager is an application you will want if you own this product.
